Board of Supervisors to select new School Board Members
The Hanover Board of Supervisors will be voting on representatives for two open school board seats at the May 22 meeting. The BOS requested input from citizens regarding the people who self-nominated to represent the Ashland and Chickahominy districts.
Contacting your representative is the closest thing you have to a vote — we encourage you to use it.
To help, we’ve pulled a few highlights from the public nominations. You can also watch the complete video on our Facebook page to hear directly from the nominees and some of their supporters. Ashland nominees begin at 2:00, Chickahominy at 43:30.

Many of us have wanted to see candidates with closer ties to the current classroom and we’re excited to see education experts, teachers and administrators, parents of current students and PTA members on the lists. There are also several people who donated thousands to Board of Supervisor campaigns and actively led the anti-elected school board effort.
We encourage everyone — but especially if you live in the Ashland and Chickahominy districts — to email your supervisor with your thoughts.
